Here are some pictures of Bob Boyle's visit to Oneida Schools. Bob is the Emmy award winning creator of Nick Jr.'s Wow Wow Wubbzy. He also created a show for Disney Channel called Yin Yang Yo! He was art director and producer of the Fairly Oddparents and art director of Danny Phantom. He wrote and illustrated the book "Hugo and the Really Really Really Long String". Bob talked to our students about his childhood and how he got into animation. Bob is so accessible. The teachers commented on how personable he is. I can tell you he put up with a lot of my fanboy chatter. He flew all the way from L. A., got here at about 1 am, and worked with us the whole school day and beyond. He talked to nearly 800 students today! And he shared with us lots of insight about working in cartoons and illustrations. He has a fantastic personal story about how he came to work in those industries and I am sure he inspired lots of our kids. If I'm having a bad day, I go to a school and draw for kids. They cheer for your drawing like you hit the winning 3 pointer in the big game. -- Bob Boyle All in all Bob Rocks!! Thanks for taking the time to share with us!! This week's topic was Tribute. I have been working on Caricature and the book I am reading on it said for beginners like me that we have about 500 bad caricatures in us and we have to get them out by practicing. So I practiced using an old Entertainment Weekly and just tried to draw some celebs. So here are the best of the worst.
This little guy, (that my daughter decided to name Iggy the alein) is waving goodbye for this week's IF topic. Most likely he's on a great cosmic journey, boldly going where no alien has gone before. The Bible talks about this in the faith hall of fame as listed in Hebrews 11. It says of Abraham, 8 It was by faith that Abraham obeyed when God called him to leave
home and go to another land that God would give him as his inheritance. He went without knowing where he was going. 9 And even when he reached the land God promised him, he lived there by faith—for he was like a foreigner, living in tents. And so did Isaac and Jacob, who inherited the same promise. 10 Abraham was confidently looking forward to a city with eternal foundations, a city designed and built by God. later it says, 13 All these people died still believing what God had promised them. They did not receive what was promised, but they saw it all from a distance and welcomed it. They agreed that they were foreigners and nomads here on earth. 14 Obviously people who say such things are looking forward to a country they can call their own. 15 If they had longed for the country they came from, they could have gone back. 16 But they were looking for a better place, a heavenly homeland. That is why God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them. I am so thankful God has prepared a home for His people. God's people in God's place under God's gracious rule. Christians don't fit in this world that is in rebellion against its creator. We are citizens of God's kingdom and we live by different rules (to get a glimpse of that way of life read Matt 5-7 the Sermon on the Mount). Most of all our home is with God. He is our treasure and we desire to be with Him the most. Because of this we know we are ready to say farewell to this world when we die. What about you? Its not a matter of if you will die, because everybody does. Nor is it a matter of when since you don't know when that will happen. Its just a matter of if you are ready when the time comes. Get ready by learning about 2 Ways to Live above. This weeks topic is train. I went a little abstract for this one trying to emphasize speed. I wanted to highlight human ingenuity and creativity. The Bible says in Genesis 1, So God created human beings in his own image.In the image of God he created them;
male and female he created them. More than anything else in all the universe, people are most like God. We were made to reflect His nature and character. Truly people are the most creative creatures on earth, part of how we are God's special creation. Sadly, becuase of sin which comes from selfishness, we no longer perfectly reflect His character. Jesus Christ perfectly reflected the nature and character of God as He always loved His neighbor as much as Himself and always loved God the Father with all His heart, mind, soul, and strength. He made a way we can be forgiven and changed to once again reflect God our creator. Have you heard about the 2 ways to live? See the link above. My wild animal this week is the amazing elephant. I love the endless variety and beauty of creation. Of course God made people to care for His creation as we read in Genesis 1--, 26 Then God said, “Let us make human beings in our
image, to be like us. They will reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, the livestock, all the wild animals on the earth, and the small animals that scurry along the ground.” 27 So God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. 28 Then God blessed them and said, “Be fruitful and multiply. Fill the earth and govern it. Reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, and all the animals that scurry along the ground.” Then in Genesis 2 it says, 15 The Lord God placed the man in the Garden of Eden to tend and watch over it. People were made to set in order God's wild creation. Sadly because of sin which comes from selfishness, we have made a mess of His creation. However, the artist made in God's image often sets order to things observed and brings out the beauty God instilled in it. I was able to train with famed artist Juliette Aristides this summer and she said, as artists we undo the fall (into sin and decay) in our work. Jesus is the ultimate artist. He can undo the sin and decay of your heart. You can be made new by Him and He can unlock the beauty God instilled in you His creation. See the two ways to live link at the top. I added a bonus wild silverback gorilla toon. Thanks! This is a Caterpillar D988 Loader I drew as a Christmas gift for my Dad. He operates awesome machines like this cause he's awesome! Unfortunately I don't have a great scan of this and had to use a cell phone pic. I am very thankful for my parents, the people God used to give me life. They also gave me a good upbringing. My Dad also passed down to me a good name since he is known as an honest hardworking and kind person. Thanks so much Dad.
I was asked to design a sign to be used in fire drills. Since this would be seen by school kids, I decided to create a little flame mascot. I did several sketches and ended up with this little guy. Here he is in ink, initial color, and final color. I Then added a logo and background and here is the final. Let me know what you think.
The topic this week is wings. I drew this in 05 as a Christmast gift for my late Father in Law Tom. I love Tom and miss him terribly. He was truly a second father to me.
I included a bible vs. from Romans 1:20 For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God. Truly the artistic order of creation speaks to the glory of the creator. But more than this, the resurrection of Jesus from the dead means everything to people like me who have lost loved ones. Jesus said in John 14:19 because I live, you will live also. Since Tom had given his life to Jesus Christ I know I will see him again, and when I do there will be no more parting. God is worthy of glory because He has conquered even death in Jesus Christ. In the trials of life, this gives me wings! |
